Are you inspired by ethereal images?  Using vintage photos printed on cotton, silk and transparencies, our "House of Dreams" project folds into a book and stands as a three dimensional work of art.  Choose fibers and images to create: four, 5"x 5" roof topped  vignettes. Each unique image becomes the focal point and inspiration to create magical scenes, as we hand stitch sections of our art quilt books.  Tips and techniques such as: applique', bead working, and hand stitching will be demonstrated.  Learn how to create color and texture "work ups" to organize background, middle and surface designs using fibers.  Students will learn traditional applique' techniques and be encouraged to experiment with "dry fusing" fibers to create delightful and unearthly shimmering effects.

A professional jewelry designer living in South Florida for over 20 years, Jana Newton is an award winning artist and art teacher.  Her work is featured in in the book, Beaded Jewelry by Carol Taylor, and has been the subject of articles in several magazines and newspapers throughout Florida.  In 2002, Jana was certified as a "Special Expert in the Field of Art" and began teaching in 1998.
