Indigo Magic Traci Bunkers Dyeing fabrics and yarns in an indigo vat is a magical experience as it changes color before your eyes. We will be using time-honored shibori methods brought to modern times: wrapping, sewing, clamping, binding and pole wrapping as resists. As we dip our pieces more and more into the vat, the fabrics will become richer in indigo, building a depth of color: the more dippings, the deeper the color. When the resists are removed, there will be organic looking designs—sometimes subtle, sometimes bold, depending on the fabric and resist method. Any natural fabric or yarn can be used, including silk, rayon and wool. Traci Bunkers is a fiber artist with her fingers in many media including photography and book arts. Her current obsession is with non-traditional and alternative photography such as pinhole, polaroid and toy cameras. She creates a quarterly artzine, Tub Legs, and has a line of rubber stamps.
