Our bodies carry infinite stories, memories, and messages … yet we often forget or totally overlook the magical clusters of cells that we are.
Anatomy is a powerful metaphor for the emotional, spiritual, and mental worlds that exist far beyond the physical. In this body-minded course we look closely at the rich territory of the human body as bones, organs, cells, muscles, and tissue, and cultivate the ability to look deeeep into what lies under our skin as symbolic reference.
We will learn to move past our heads and dive in to the magically informative wonders and layers that can become muse to our creative productivity, truly creating from our hearts and guts! Using guided visualization, a gut-level intuition, and our imagination; we will journey into our bodies and seek it’s metaphors, messages and wisdom. By the end of this course you will have a new level of connection with human anatomy, and a plethora of symbolism to feed your creative inspiration.
Supply List:
- 11x14 or 11x17 paper or canvas panel - as many as you feel you will fill.
- Gel Medium or adhesive(s) of choice
- A selection of 10-15 or more images of any body parts ~ inside and out (see below).
- Any art accessories or mediums or images you prefer working with – this can be (but is not limited to) acrylic, watercolor, paint pens, stencils, text, found images from books or magazines for collaging, scrapbooking paper or other backgrounds. The more the merrier!
- Brushes that you prefer and are comfortable with.
- A pencil
- Scissors
Teacher will bring:
- a number of anatomical clip art photocopies – but you will enjoy having your own variety and style of anatomical renderings. A few possible resources are clip art, magazines, medical textbooks, and vintage ephemera.
A Little About ME
As an empath and energy intuitive, I experience the world on a supernatural level. Making art helps me understand and process my self, the planet I live on, and the people I share it with. I combine the magic of being me with a compulsive need to capture energy through my camera lens, and a desire to elaborate through illustration and mixed media collage beyond what the human eye can see. Visionary sight, self-excavation, and a seeker's probing join traditional mediums on my surfaces. Passionate about sharing creative self-explorations with others, I believe that the unique heart and guts of each person's soul can be accessed and unleashed through making art.
