Journaling Happy Style by Teesha Moore
Materials
Before you come please:
Take 1 sheet of fabriano artistico 140 lb, hot press watercolor paper sized 22 x 30 and cut it into thirds, each 10 x 22. Paper can be found at dickblick.com or an art supply store.
Paint each piece with watercolors or Golden Liquid acrylics. Use one color per side, painting both front and back of each strip. (If short on time, you may paint the sheet before cutting using one color on the front and another color on the back—if you do this, have one warm color and one cool color ie. a yellow and a blue or a pink and a green). We will NOT be able to paint in class because it takes too long to dry. You will be happier working on a colored background but white can do if you don’t have time to paint it.
note: use colors in the medium range (not too light & not too dark) and try to include a warm yellow, an olive green, a lime green, a turquoise of some kind, a pink, etc. However...this is just a guide. use colors you have and it will be just fine.
In addition, bring the following (please note: I know that if you are just starting out, buying all these things can be spendy. But please know that all these things are absolute musts for my journal bag. They all seem to last forever too. I will have a few extra supplies to use if needed but you will be happiest with your own sets).
1. Some sort of a double sided adhesive in a roller form.—can be found at an office supply store. 2. Set of colored pencils (I prefer faber castell polychromos but any kind will do). A small set will be fine. 3. Caran d’ache neocolor II artists’ crayons (small set is fine from dickblick.com). If coming with a friend, share a set and break all the crayons in half so you each get all the colors. (they’ll break anyway). 4. Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight pens (in all the fluorescent colors at least) - again from dickblick.com 5. soufflé gel pens (dickblick.com) - optional 6. Black pen of some kind...a rollerball, or pitt superfine, or anything with a fine black line. 7. Pencil and eraser. 8. Pair of scissors 9. A magazine or other collage fodder. 10. Small ruler |
