Fun, Fast and Fabulous Fabric Batik

Barbara Matthiessen

Technique driven class for all skill levels

Love the look of batiked fabrics but not the price tag?  I will show you how to quickly and easily produce your own batik fabric using 9 different techniques. You will also learn how to do a washable image transfer process.  Once you learn our techniques you will be able to add the international look of batik to your designs in quilts, wallhangings, table linens, clothing, totes, and cover photo albums and journals with your own unique fabric creation.

You will leave class with 9 square feet of dyed fabric suitable for a multitude of projects.

I will also have some finished samples to inspire and show some of the ways the fabrics can be used.  Once you learn the techniques your personal design skills will find many more applications.

Because we will be using dyes please wear old clothes and consider bringing an apron.  This is a messy, fast pace but very fun class.  You won’t believe all the cool fabric we will make!

IF you have a specific purpose or theme for your blocks, please consider bringing foam stamps, rubber stamps and stencils related to your theme.  I will have a huge array of stamps and stencils for your use but they might not be within your theme.

There will be a $25 kit fee payable to the instructor at class time.  Kit will include fabric bonded to freezer paper, large bottle of resist medium, 5 bottles of Dye-na-Flow® dye, bottle of transfer medium, and other goodies!
