RELIC “RESIN”
JOURNALS
By Tracy
Vaughn Moore
Working
with polymer clay, resin, found objects, mold making techniques, leather,
wood, metal mesh, and bookbinding techniques, students will create a
one-of-a-kind journal, completely unique to each individual artist. These
journals, while having the look and feel of something that might be found
deep within the ruins of an ancient lost city, are still completely
functional.
Supply
list:
Various
found objects. (These objects can be incorporated into both the cover and
the closure.)
A couple of
beads and charms.
Old photos,
or bits of collage that you might wish to embed in clear “resin.”
Paper: 20
pieces of Fabriano Artistico 140# “hot press” paper, cut to 11” X 5 ˝”.
Ten blocks
of polymer clay in translucent or ivory (I prefer Sculpey III, or Premo, or
even Super Sculpey)
Jewelry
pliers. (These can be any small needle nose pliers.)
Small tube
of Burnt Umber acrylic (I will be bringing several other colors, but feel
free to bring whatever colors of acrylic that speak to you.)
Old towel
or rag.
Optional
supplies: (I will have these available to use…however, should you wish
to bring your own, please feel free to do so.)
Dremel tool
with various bits (specifically a 5/64” drill bit)
Any toys,
charms, figurines, etc., that you may want to use for making molds of.
Artist Bio:
Tracy
Vaughn Moore owns Zettiology Rubber Stamps & Mythos. Journal making and
keeping are his focused art passions. When he’s not making journals, he can
usually be found haunting the coffee shops of Seattle writing, drawing, and
meeting other creative spirits, as well as spending much time with his Lomo
cameras, capturing all the tidbits of life that make it interesting.
