Wild and Wooly Rug Hooking Workshop Mary Stanley Come explore the wonderful world of creative rug hooking. In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of primitive rug hooking to create your own colorful pieces that can be transformed into a wall piece, journal cover, or small rug . We will experiment with different types of backing material and hook our own designs with strips of hand dyed and recycled wool. We will also explore the use of non-traditional materials such as yarns, velvets, sweaters, wool roving and metallics to create new and exciting textures. To embellish your piece you may bring beads, buttons, yarns or whatever else you can think of! Included in the Kit fee ($20.) will be a simple frame or hoop to hook with, backing fabrics ( burlap, monks cloth, linen), hand dyed wool to get you started and your very own rug hook. Mary Stanley is a fiber artist who makes, sells and teaches art in Santa Barbara, CA. She has a BA in Art (Printmaking) from UCSB and lives an art filled life with her husband and 2 sons. |
